BUTTERFLIES

Butterflies
With school in full swing the children have lots of fun things to tell us about each day when they arrive from school. They are learning a lot of fun things already!

October will be a busy month with three no school days and Halloween! On no school days, you will need to bring a lunch unless it is listed differently on our calendar. When the children are out of school we follow a different schedule. That schedule will be posted by the checkout book a couple of days before the no school day. If your child needs money on any days during the month, that will also be posted on our calendar.

We have welcomed two new staff members, Christine Haggerty and Haley Rheault, to our classroom. Some of you may recognize Christine as Ava’s mom. Haley is a returning staff member from ;ast year. Please introduce yourselves to them if you haven’t already!

Happy October!

FIREFLIES

Fireflies

The magic of October is here!! In our classroom, that means it is a time of seasonal and holiday excitement.

Our letters this month are C & D. Thank you for your help with the alphabet homework. The children are very proud to share it with their friends. Our up coming themes include: Nursery Rhymes, Fall and Halloween.

On October 2, we will be taking a field trip to a pumpkin patch.  The children will need weather friendly clothes! There also is a $2.00 charge so each of the kids can return back to the Learning Tree with a pumpkin. Our Halloween party will be on the 31st.

We have started printing our names. When helping your preschooler practice, we ask that you please remember only the first letter is capitalized. We are printing in D’nealin.

Spanish in the mornings with Becca has been a success! So far we are working with colors and the kids seem to really enjoy it. We are excited to see what she will teach us next!!

Please welcome new staff member Amanda Cantwell. She will be starting October 1st.

GRASSHOPPERS

Grasshoppers

We’re going on a leaf hunt. We’re going right away. Let’s find colorful leaves. It’s a wonderful day! Going on a fall adventure, observing all the fall colors around us, picking special leaves to bring back to our classroom is how we spent our day at the park (along with a lot of running, swinging, sliding, and climbing).

The leaves have been the talk of the classroom as we have talked about the fall weather changing, the colors of the leaves, and how we turned the leaves into a fall art project.  You can now spot our wonderful leaves at our science table!

Library groups will continue on Tuesdays.  Swimming is still on Thursdays.  Please have a swimming suit in order for your child to participate.  We will be making a fun trip to the fire station down the street from us on Oct. 16th!  We will also be purchasing some pumpkins to paint in the classroom, so watch for more information on that!

Don’t forget to watch for our float at the Gypsy Day Parade on Oct. 6th
Happy Birthday to Camden D. on Oct. 6th

CATERPILLARS

Caterpillars

Some days our class is full of Doctors, Firemen, policemen, chefs, Beauticians and any other occupation you can think of and some days our class is full of super heroes in capes. Dress up and role play is a huge part of our day. We love to see the children imitating their adult role models and dress up is a great way for them to express that. Who knows… maybe we are training our future professionals and heroes just by letting them play and pretend.

October is here and we are looking forward to a spooktacular month. Our themes for this month are fall fun and Halloween. We will be having pajama day on the 12th and a Halloween party on the 31st. Please watch for more information about these special events. Thanks to all who decorated their Teddy bears. They were awesome and the kids loved seeing them on the wall. We would like to wish Baylor a Happy Birthday on the 19th. We hope she has a great day!

Happy Halloween!

DRAGONFLIES

Dragonflies

Just a cute little story that I would like to share with you that happened this month.

Our little friend Noah wanted Shana to read a storybook that we have in the lobby.  In the book it has little mirrors.  I started to read the story to Noah and we came upon a mirror and I said Noah, “Who is that in the mirror.”  He looks in the mirror and said “Isaiah.”  I said “No, that is Noah.”  Noah said again, “There is Isaiah.”  The cute part of the story is Noah has an older brother named Isaiah and every time he looked in the mirror he saw his brother.

Have Happy Halloween!

HONEYBEES

Honeybees Honeybees have been busy learning. The Honeybees have been learning new things. One of the things that we have been working on is songs with actions like The Itsy Bitsy Spider and If You Are Happy and You Know It, I’m Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee and many more. Try singing those songs with them and they may do some of the actions or say some of the words (especially the older kids). We have also been working on sign language. The main sign we do is please. We also practice: more, yes, and no. We sent home a sign language book so you can also use these with your child. On the 31st, we will be having a Halloween Party. Please bring a costume for your child. We will be taking pictures of them and walking around the building showing the other rooms how cute they all look.

Have a Happy Halloween!!

LADYBUGS

Ladybugs Welcome October! We are very excited about all the growth and development of our friends this past month. Aryanna turned one and is eating table food like a champ, Isabella learned to crawl and is unstoppable, Talon is sitting up on his own and loving it, Jake is pushing himself up into a crawling position,  Brylee has found his voice and has been telling stories, Uriah has discovered his giggle and has a hard time stopping sometimes, and Avery is new to daycare and fitting in quite well. We can’t wait to see what October holds for us! Babies are welcome to bring their Halloween costumes on the 31st for our party.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

From the Office
September is such a busy month with school starting and new staff and new families! We hope you are feeling at home and adjusting to our schedules in each classroom. Staff members are excited about getting to know all of our new families!

Tis’ the time of year when we begin to see illnesses in children and staff as well. Remember that your best line of defense against illness is good hand washing! Please remember that you should always feel free to wash you and your child’s hands upon entering the building and before you leave. Adults should also remember to wash their hands before they go into a classroom to pick their child up. It is also a good idea to replace your child’s toothbrush here and at home if your child has been ill.

We hope you will all come out to see us in the Gypsy Day Parade. We won the Mayors Award last year and are hoping to win again! We need you to cheer us on!

Be Well!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
On Halloween, costumes (and treats too!) are welcome in all classrooms. Please have your child bring his/her costume rather than wear it so that your child can change out of their costume when the classroom parties are done. Please remember that we have very young children in the building so no ‘really scary’ costumes.

IMMUNIZATIONS
Reminder that we need a copy of your child’s immunization record every time they receive a vaccination.

CLOTHING
Remember to bring extra clothes for your child in-case of accident. It’s also a good idea to have cooler clothes for your child to change into as this time of year it is cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons.

SWIMMING
Most of the children in our center go swimming on Thursdays at the Y. Please make sure that your child has a swim suit and towel. If you have questions on other belongings to bring, please ask a teacher.
