BUTTERFLIES

We are excited to start another school year and get to know our new families! The staff this school year will be Kymberlie Barrie (from last year & Summer Safari) & Jennifer Podoll (from Summer Safari). We are still looking for another staff person for this classroom.

When the Butterfly group leaves the building for activities, keep in mind that they are always back by 5:00. You are welcome to call or stop and we can tell you where the group is if you want to pick your child up at their destination. Just as a reminder, if for some reason your child is not attending PLEASE call us so that our van is not waiting at the school while we look for your child. This is particularly important when you pick your child up early from school due to illness/appointment. This also applies if your child does not go to school at all. Put us on your list of calls to make when your child’s routine is changed.

FIREFLIES

September is such an exciting month!! It is a month of change and new beginnings, new experience, new skills, and new challenges! This month your child will explore the world of learning and will develop and enhance many skills. Please encourage your child to practice and develop these skills at home.

During the coming weeks, we will begin to follow directions, read and comprehend our ABC’s, practice good manners, work and play together, count and compute, question and experiment, and work on our self-help skills and independence. New to our room this Fall will be an introduction to Spanish. This will be once a week for about twenty minutes.

Our themes this month will be Apples, My Family and Fall. This month we will also be introducing the letters A & B. For each letter your child will receive homework. The homework is designed for you and you child to do together at home. Please read the three choices and return to pre-school with your child by the due date. We think you will find these activities to be a lot of fun. Please check out our Firefly daily news located beside our door. This will help you discuss each school day with your child. Please ask open-ended questions and offer positive feedback. Your constant interest will play an important part in your child’s learning success.

Show and share will be every Friday. Please encourage your child to limit their show and share. Now that our sharing time has started please and do not allow your child to bring toys from home on the other days. We will swim every Thursday. We are walking as long as weather permits so please remember no flip-flops. Please have an extra set of clothes in your child’s cubby. When ever you have a question or any concerns please visit with us.

GRASSHOPPERS

Pre-school is underway and so is the fall weather! Please remember to bring a jacket for your child since it seems to be a little chilly in the mornings and warmer in the afternoons. We started our pre-school learning by learning more about ourselves and about the different families all around us. We will start working on learning our ABC’s, seasons, holidays, and much more as the year progresses on. We will start library groups on Tuesday.

We will continue with swimming every Thursday, so please make sure to have your child wear the appropriate walking shoes since we like to walk to the Y! Show-N-Share will be on designated Fridays throughout the year, so please watch for those specific days and bring toys ONLY on those days. We would like to thank every parent who attended the “Pre=school Connections” Open House. We would also like to welcome Miss Brynn to our classroom. She will be helping out in the mornings while Miss Meagan is here in the afternoons.

CATERPILLARS

We hope you all had a safe and happy summer. We have many fun things planned for the coming month. We would like to welcome Jacey, Paxton and Zayne to our room. We are glad they are here. As I am sure you have noticed we have a few staff changes also. Abby, Ali and Mackenzie will be our new afternoon staff. Abby and Ali are joining us from the Summer Safari and Firefly rooms and we would like to welcome Mackenzie to the building and our room. This month we will be learning about Friends, Teddy Bears and Apples!

Please bring a family picture to share with us! Please make sure you have extra clothes in your child’s cubby! Make sure your child has a coat or sweatshirt. We never know what the weather is going to do!

DRAGONFLIES

September is here and school is back in session! Colder weather is on its way! Please make sure your child has a jacket and some extra clothes, including pants so your child can enjoy the outdoors as much as possible! We will continue to swim on Thursday, so be sure to watch for your child’s week and have your child here by 8:30am when it’s their swim day. We have added a new activity of going to the YMCA gym on Mondays to work on developmental skills and burn some energy.

We would like to welcome Tate, Jozlyn, & Rya to our classroom! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask! Happy Birthday to Olivia on September 21st !

HONEYBEES

Can you believe that it is already September? The summer went by so fast. We will be continuing to go outside so please make sure they have a light jacket and shoes. We said goodbye to our summer staff, Laura and Emily, who both went back to school for the fall. We do have a new morning staff, Crystal and also our returning afternoon staff, Katie and Marissa. The Learning Tree will be closed on Sept. 3 for Labor Day.

LADYBUGS

We hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for the cooler Fall season to begin! As you may already know we have added a couple staff members to our classroom. Amber will be working 7am to 3pm and Megan will be working 3pm-6pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They are both very excited to get to know your little ones and help them grow.

Please remember the weather is changing and your child is growing so be sure to check their cubbies to make sure extra outfits haven’t been outgrown and are still weather appropriate.

Remember if you ever have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to speak with one of us. Happy First Birthday to Aryanna on the 7th!
